The wine of the 2016 vintage benefitted from a great growing season. This was in part due to the gentle roller coaster temperatures, less than average winter rains, and a few hot spells. Late rains in June made viticulturists vigilant, and cool temperatures in September gave winemakers a bit of a break. The season was early. Harvest took place on October 4th. A big, exuberant nose of mocha and black cherry aromas, cradled with notes of five-spice and black licorice. The palate had a pleasant jammy entry with plum and black cherry fruit. Plushy, velvety fruit on the finish with soft tannin to remember that it is really Cabernet!
